The Marvels fixing Captain Marvel's personality problem could also be critical to the MCU's future. Brie Larson's character is expected to play a pivotal role in Phases 5 and 6. Her starring role in The Marvels should help set up Captain Marvel's role in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. This could include her becoming the leader of the Avengers. For this to happen effectively, audiences need to rally around Carol Danvers to make her one of the franchise's more popular and beloved characters. If The Marvels cannot help Marvel accomplish this, the overall impact of the Multiverse Saga could suffer.

The connection audiences had to the main heroes in the Infinity Saga is one of the reasons that Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were so effective. Viewers had plenty of time to learn about these characters and see them interact with each other.
